If you are planning a trip out of the country, you know you are going to need your passport. However, if you have a damaged passport, this might do you no good. Maybe it’s time to get that taken care of. There is a way to do this but it’s going to cost you money and you are going to have to go through a process in order to apply for another passport when you have a damaged US passport.

Now, when you go to have your passport replaced, you will have a number of things to be mindful of. One of those things is the paperwork and other documents you will need to replace your passport. Let’s look at these so you need to know what forms you need, how to fill them out, as well as other things they will require. How much you have to pay is always helpful as well.

Let’s look at the first form you will need to get a quick passport. This is the DS-11 form. Now, you can fill this form out. You can find this online. However, the one thing that you need to make sure that you don’t do is that you don’t sign and date it. This has to be signed and dated when you are at the passport agency in your local area. If you sign it ahead of time, they will make you start over so that you can sign it in front of them.

The other form that you will have to fill out is called the DS-64 form. This is the form that tells them that you had a passport before but one out of three things has happened. These things are you lost it, had it stolen or you damaged it. The thing you want to note about this is that they want specific detail. If you don’t have this, then they won’t accept your request.

The next thing that you need is that you need to then prove to them that you are legal. You can do this by showing proof with your birth certificate. If you don’t have a United States birth certificate, then something from naturalization can work in your favor as well.

The thing to know with the photos is that they have to be taken a certain way. You can’t be smiling. They have to be 2 inches by 2 inches. They also have to be taken against a white background. If you do not have this, you will be denied. On top of that, you have to make sure that those pictures aren’t older than six months.

Now, there are some of you who might need these as soon as possible. You might be going out of country. However, if you are in this position, then you have to prove to them that you are going to take this trip quickly. The other thing you will have to do is pay them. How much you fee will be will all depend on a number of things you are trying to accomplish. However, you do have to pay a State Department processing fee.

Now that you know what documentation is required as well as the way they charge you, you can be ready to get a replacement for your damaged US passport. This can be a lengthy process so if you are thinking about traveling, you need to do this as soon as you can, or apply for a urgent passport. All paperwork needs to be filled out accurately. If it’s not, your plans might be put on hold.
