Examining The HP LaserJet 4050t Printer

The process of selecting a printer can be a confusing one, as there are a myriad of choices and options available. However the job becomes much easier if you keep in mind what you need and determine if the printer in question provides those features. We will look at several areas of focus, as an example on how to evaluate a printer, comparing them to the HP LaserJet 4050t printer and HP LaserJet 4050t toner.

Most people focus on the speed of that printer when buying; however there are two areas that speed is measured. The first speed measurement is the amount of time it takes the first page to print after the print job is requested. The 4050t printer can complete the first page 15 seconds after the print job is sent. The second measurement is the number of pages printed in one minute’s time. At 17 pages per minute this model can finish an average print job quickly.

Connectivity is often important to business and home users, as printers are not always configured to easily connect to every available interface type. This printer comes with a standard IEEE parallel connector, but has 2 additional slots for optional connection types. These connection slots may allow printing with a JetDirect network card, Token Ring or Local Talk connections.

The amount of paper that the printer can handle may determine how long it can print without interaction. Normally a printer will have two ratings; the standard capacity and the maximum capacity. The maximum amount handled can be reached by adding one or more optional additions. This model printer will handle 600 sheets of paper standard and can reach a maximum of 1,100 sheets with the purchase of one additional paper tray. The output capacity is 250 sheets in the top bin or 50 sheets in the rear bin.

Printer resolution can be determined in two ways as well. The first rating is normally expressed as dots per inch (dpi) and is simply the maximum number of ink/toner dots that can fit in an inch. The higher the number of dots means the greater the resolution and potential for a better looking print out. Printer software technology also allows for better resolution outside of the dpi measurement. The 4050t printer can print at 300 dpi and 600 dpi. Software choices available include the HP FastRes 1200 which allows faster printing speeds and ProRes 1200 for better graphics.

This model also has additional options available that add some flexibility; the duplexer option allows the printer to automatically print on both sides of the page and the envelope feeder will allow the printer to more easily handle printing on envelopes. The envelope feeder can handle up to 75 envelopes at one time. Additional memory or storage devices can also be used to add flexibility and additional features.

If you intend to print at high volumes it would be best to check out the printer Duty Cycle as well. This is the manufacturer rating of the number of pages printed per month. If your expected print volume is close to this number you may want to look at a more robust printer that will allow for higher peak demand. The duty cycle on this model printer is up to 65,000 pages per month.

While it is not possible to cover every angle of interest a person may have when purchasing a printer, the above is a good guide to give you an idea of the type of questions to ask yourself before making the purchase. There may be a unique requirement that you should take into account, such as a company that uses their printer to print labels to label boxes in a freezer! They would want to take into account the operating environment the printer could be used in. (This model is supported between 50 and 90 degrees Farenheit!) With the areas discussed the HP LaserJet 4050t printer could fill the role of small business or home environment laser printer. The speed and resolution make it perfect for this role, with the ability to add a JetDirect network card expanding it to be used by multiple users.

No matter the tasks you intended to assign, the HP LaserJet 4050t toner will perform at the peak level expected of all HP toner.  Businesses watching their bottom line will appreciate online toner vendors for inexpensive replacement.
