How The Bible Explains The Giant Causeway Of Northern Ireland

by Bridget on August 20, 2012

The Giant Causeway is a breathtaking natural site on the north-east coast of Northern Ireland. This magnificent attraction draws in about half a million tourists every single year. The Causeway is comprised of tightly packed columns made up of basalt. These columns form a stunning path of stepping stones that lead from the top of the cliff down to the sea. While the brochures offered to visitors of the Causeway state that the natural formation is close to 60 million years old, those who know better realize that it was actually formed by Noah’s great flood. The estimation that the Causeway is 60 million years old relies on radiometric and carbon dating. The problem with this kind of science is that it pretends to be very accurate when it is, in fact, nothing but a collective assumption shared by a few scientists. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to date sediment layers.

How It Was Formed

Since most scientists dismiss the notion that the Causeway could have been caused by the flood referred to in the Bible, they jump to the conclusion that their geological dating methods must be accurate. They see no other way that the Causeway could have been formed, and falsely claim that it could only have been created over an absurdly long period of time. In reality, the shape and size of the Great Causeway could only have been caused by a large scale water disaster. The only recorded instance of a flood of that kind of magnitude is Noah’s flood in the Bible. Unfortunately, the media and scientists seem content to tell the general public that carbon dating is actually a very accurate way to measure the age of geological sites when it is not. This is why so many people fall into the misconception that the Earth is millions and millions of years old.

The Problem With Carbon Dating

One of the other main reasons why geological sites are so hard to date with carbon dating is that it is only possible for scientists to take measurements in the present. They have no way to go back in time and take samples from a site to see how they have changed. The best that they can do is make educated guesses based on the assumptions they have about the past. Obviously, this is not a system that should inspire any amount of confidence in rational people who understand the Bible. So, when guides at the Causeway hang out pamphlets that state the site is 60 million years old, they are not delivering people factual information. Rather, they are providing them with their best guesses that they have ascertained from individuals who, admittedly, have a system that is incapable of accurately determining the sites age.

Carbon dating has been portrayed by the scientific community, along with the media, as being the end all, be all of geological dating. However, a quick review of the facts, and a simple understanding of sediment layers reveals to us that a sight as large and expansive as Northern Ireland’s Great Causeway could only have been caused by a massive, cataclysmic flood. If you are interested in learning more about how the flood of the Bible caused the Causeway to form, go online today and research for yourself.
