The HP 3600 Series Printers are ideal for a small office network with massive productivity needs. This series of laser printers is comprised of two units: the 3600n (Q5987A) and the 3600dn (Q5988A). While both have key differences, they share some common features which make them suitable in a competitive environment of today’s workplace, like the HP Color LaserJet 3600 toner.

Both the 3600n and the 3600dn boast of a processor with a 360-MHz speed. Such allows for the machines to come up with up to 17 pages per minute, for both colored and black and white printing tasks. They’re specifically designed to be operated with much simplicity. Even their installation is hassle-free; all that’s needed is a few clicks of the mouse button to have their software installed.

These days, it’s important for colored prints to stand out among the rest. For this series, HP has thrown in some innovative features to enhance your color printing tasks. For instance, there’s the brand new ColorSphere toner, which increases the range of available colors. Additionally, such technology allows for rendering of brighter and intense colors. For optimal result, HP recommends the use of their glossy papers with 5-layer coating.

Making it easier to maintain the printers is the presence of only 4 cartridges to deal with. As if that’s not enough, the ColorSphere toner and the image drum are integrated into one unit. Having to replace the entire imaging unit each time results in a more consistent output. What’s more, replacement can be done in a snap, and there are no messy toner spills to worry about.

When it comes to media handling, these machines can work with a variety of sizes and types. The multipurpose tray can handle media sizes from 3″ x 5″ to as large as 8.5″ x 14″. The 250-sheet standard tray is compatible to work with sizes ranging from 5.8″ x 8.3″ to as much as 8.5″ x 14″. Compatible media types are extensive as well. They include paper (plain, glossy, bond, recycled, rough, etc.), transparencies, business cards, labels, envelopes and many others.

A couple of connectivity options allow for the machines to be hooked up easily to a computer or the office network. They include high-speed USB 2.0 and fast Ethernet connections. It’s also possible to connect to a network wirelessly. This, thanks to the 802.11b/g Wireless LAN which is sold separately.

There are a few key differences between the two printers belonging to the series. Memory-wise, the 3600n carries with it 64 MB, and the 3600dn has 128 MB of it. When it comes to duplex or two-sided printing, the 3600n comes with a manual one, while the 3600dn comes with an automatic one. Both are compact in design, which makes them easy to be placed on a desk. The 3600n measures 15.7″ x 17.7″ x 15.7″ (W x D x H) and weighs 59.6 lbs. With the print cartridge installed. On the other hand, the 3600dn measures 15.7″ x 17.7″ x 16.7″ (W x D x H) and tips the scale at 61.6 lbs. With the print cartridge installed.

The HP 3600 Series Printers are easy to install, operate and maintain. And such advantages make them ideal for a small office network which requires professional printing jobs. Both the 3600n and the 3600dn carry with them the HP toner cartridges, in order to meet varying productivity needs.
