Kyocera FS-3800N Printer – The Last Printer You Will Ever Need

by garrett on December 18, 2009

The Kyocera FS-3800N printer using Kyocera FS-3800N Compatible Printer toner is an innovative machine that offers a networked printing solution that is quick and eco-sensitive. A black and white laser printer, the FS3800N has 32 MB of RAM and a Motorola PowerPC-740 166 MHz processor. Its print speed is 24 ppm (pages per minute) and its maximum resolution is 1,200 dpi x 1,200 dpi. The FS-3800N’s is compatible with MS Windows 95 and 98.

Due to its age and software limitations, the Kyocera FS-3800N printer has taken a back seat to the newer models offered by Kyocera. It was a true innovation at the time and as such there are many still in operation, as well as being offered as reconditioned. The FS-3800N was designed to use resources more efficiently, thus minimizing cost and lessening the impact on the environment.

Kyocera is an international Japanese ceramics and associated products corporation. It offers equipment in telecommunications, electronics components, and semiconductors. Originally called the Kyoto Ceramic Company in the 1950’s, the corporation expanded and changed its name to Kyocera in 1982. Its subsidiary, Kyocera Mita, produces computer peripherals such as network and software solutions, imaging devices, fax machines, and printers.

Kyocera is dedicated to creating products that are “eco-friendly.” It has focuses on the environmental preservation measures of: Ozone layer protection-Waste reduction-Energy and resource conservation

Kyocera Mita’s printers use a technology called Ecosys. Ecosys is an engineering design that has little impact on the environment by having long-life consumables and a low cost-per-print. In an Ecosys printer, the drum is separate from the toner cartridge. When the toner is depleted, only the cartridge is replaced. The drum, which can handle hundreds of thousands of prints, is left intact, thus lowering the volume of waste and the total cost of ownership.

Kyocera Mita America is ISO 14001:2004 certified because of its Environmental Management System (EMS). This certification is annual and it distinguishes the company for its effective management activities, products, and services that effect the environment. Kyocera has earned this certification because it reduces energy and material consumption by its recycling program while also adhering to the local, state, and federal environmental regulatory requirements.

Kyocera offers a toner container recycling program. Customers who wish to reduce their landfill waste, but who do not have a recycling center near them, can ship their used Kyocera toner cartridges to the Kyocera Recycle Center in South Carolina. This center only accepts Kyocera toner cartridges that are sent in the packaging from the new toner. Shipping costs are the customer’s, while the recycling is free.

The printers offered by Kyocera Mita have evolved from the technology of the FS-3800N. The fastest printer available today is the FS-9530DN, which has a print speed of 51 ppm (page per minute) and a drum cycle of 300,000 per month. With drum duty cycles ranging between 200,000 and 250,000 per month, FS-9130DN, FS-4020DN, and FS-3920DN have speeds of 40 ppm, 47 ppm, and 42 ppm respectively. Mid-range speeds of 37 ppm and 32 ppm can be found in the FS-2020D and the FS-1350DN (the duty cycles range between 30,000 and 150,000 per month). Kyocera Mita’s slowest printers in the current line are the FS-1300D and the FS-1100, both with a speed of 30 ppm (duty cycles of 25,000 and 20,000 respectively). Any of these printers are the natural and cost effective upgrades for the FS-3800N.

The dependability of the Kyocera FS-3800N printer means that this is still a good investment. Obtaining Kyocera FS-3800N toner is easy as many online vendors offer Cartridge at great competitive prices. Replacement toner really is just a mouse click away!
