Print Quality- The Samsung ML 1510 Toner monochrome printer boasts with excellent overall print quality. Text is clean and crisp and easily legible at even the smallest of character sizing. In terms of larger character printing, outlines are smooth and solid. Shading and contrasting is accurately reproduced, with only slight banding on PDF, mixed content and photo prints. Greyscale images and diagrams have a greater tendency to suffer from banding. However you should really look closely to see these slight flaws. Engine speed reaches up to 14 pages per minute for text, 14 page per minute mixed content and photo printing. Warming-up time of 30-60 seconds is required before first page production.
Paper sizes and types- All popular media types are accepted by the device including plain paper, transparencies, labels, envelopes and cards. Compatible media sizes are Letter, Legal, Folio, Exec, Monarch, C5, DL, A4, A5, B5 and 3×5″. The machine comes standard with a very impressive 250 sheet paper input and 50 sheet output tray with fold-down paper exit flap for easy handling of large and inflexible paper types.
Controls- The printer is easily the most user-friendly device on the market, with only one button on the entire machine to turn the unit on and off and two LED screens indicating errors and toner status. All functions are controlled by the printer software.
Installation- Installing the device is chop-chop. Insert the disc that accompanied you printer and bingo, you are ready to go. Unfortunately the device is not plug and play enabled. However due to the incredible ease of installation we overlook and forgive the designers and technicians at Samsung for their little omission.
OS Requirements- The printer is compatible with Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems which makes the machine extremely appealing to a wide user base. Especially for Linux and Mac users who often run into operator compatibility issues.
Interface options- Only the latest interface option in the form of an USB connection is available. Older systems that still employ port connections will be of no use. USB cable is not included so make sure that you order yours with the printer.
Warranty- An one year manufacturer’s warranty comes standard with your purchase. Note that terms and conditions will apply and that coverage is limited on parts and labour.
Toner- Sample Samsung ML 1510 toner is included with your printer purchase. However replacement will soon be required as the starter cartridge has a very limited 1000 sheet print capacity. You should prepare yourself for a massive price shock as full sized cartridge with a print capacity of 3000 pages will retail for a hefty US$83.00-US$150.00 The printer comes with a terrific toner saving feature, saving you up to 25% toner. The only disadvantage is that prints will be produced at lower resolutions of 300 dpi, so should you require darker reproduction just turn the feature off and resolutions are increased to 600 dpi. The machine is a real workhorse at a duty cycle of 10 000 prints per month. The Printer Toner is an excellent buy.
