The Samsung ML 2150 printer is a quality network laser printer that delivers no-nonsense performance in a compact, durable package. It’s a user-friendly device, too, with excellent performance and features sure to please both IT professionals and the users in a small office or home office network.
This black and white laser printer, when paired with the proper Toner, delivers sound performance in all aspects of its worklife. It comes with up-to-date USB 2.0 interface ports, and 802.11b wireless connectivity and 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet porting can be had as options. There’s also an older-style parallel serial port, if needed. Generally, the USB interface ought to be sufficient, at least for starters.
Print output performance is also good, with 21 pages per minute of black and white copy being delivered. As always, print speeds may vary depending upon the data and graphics richness of each individually assigned print task. Resolution is equally fine, at 1200 dots per inch (dpi). From tasking of the print job to first output page, it’s only 12 seconds, which is adequate when it comes to speed. Resolution can be dropped to 600dpi, which can push print speed up a little.
Internal paper storage capacity is good, with a standard 500-sheet paper tray. An optional second 500-sheet tray can be had for an additional fee. There is also a rear output tray for longer paper stock. This is especially useful for envelopes and transparencies. The top right-hand sections of this unit sport a clean-looking LCD control panel, with a minimum number of buttons – nine, in total.
Menus in the control panel are straightforward enough, and easy to work one’s way through. Given the relatively low price of this unit, it’s a very attractive upgrade from older laser printer models of just a few years before its appearance, which cost nearly three times as much. Plus, the Samsung has an automatic duplex printing function which makes producing print output on both sides of a sheet of paper pretty much a snap.
The Samsung ML 2150 laser printer is a durable machine, too. It has a 100,000 page maximum duty cycle before requiring standard maintenance, which is also sure to please any small business owner. There’s also 16 MB of onboard memory, which can be upped to a maximum of 144 MB. That should be more than sufficient to handle the print management needs of just about any printing task.
The Samsung ML 2150 toner cartridge is supplied with the laser printer. The starter unit has a 4,000 page print output capacity before requiring replacement with a new unit. There’s also a higher-capacity cartridge which can double the amount of print output, to a standard 8,000 pages. The printer itself comes with a standard 1 year on-site warranty from the manufacturer.
The Samsung ML 2150 laser printer and Samsung ML 2150 toner cartridge are well-designed and nicely-performing units that work very well together. It has good paper storage capacity and equally-good print output speeds and resolution on each page. Anybody looking for a cost-effective and reliable machine should give this unit serious consideration.
