What You Need To Know About The Samsung ML 1755 Printer

With dimensions of 13.8 x 14.6 inches, the Samsung ML 1755 is one of the smallest laser printers around today. This is the perfect printer if you have very limited space and budget. You can even use this in a dormitory since it produces minimal noise when it is printing.  The small size does not diminish the quality of the prints created by the Samsung ML 1755 toner.

The 1755 has a larger memory as compared to the ML 1750. To be exact, the memory is four times larger. Even though this printer has enough power to be used in an office, it is still categorized for personal use. The 250-sheet paper tray is more than double the size of other printers under the same category. You can even adjust it to fit 11″ x 14″ legal size paper.

The maximum resolution is 1,200 x 600 dpi. This is makes it great for printing text and graphics.  Photo printing is not advisable as we found the picture was a little too grainy for us. In addition, printing detailed graphics may result in some problems since this is machine is primarily designed for basic use.

It can print 17 pages in a minute, which is fast for a personal laser printer. It also has two ports for connectivity. You have the option to use USB or parallel ports. This is great for people who do not have any available or limited USB ports. However, there is no 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port.

The 32-megabyte memory is more than enough to handle heavy loads of printing. There is also an optional external adapter you can use to connect the device to your home or office network. The drivers support Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems. This makes it perfect if you have a Mac book and a Windows based personal computer.

The control panel has a single button that can be used for several functions. It will depend on how long you press it. For example, if you tap the button, it will cancel the current printing job. The same panel also houses the two LEDs that can indicate anything from paper jams to cartridge problems.  You should consult the manual on how to read the flash codes.

It is bundled with a 1,000 page yield toner cartridge. We highly recommend purchasing a separate toner when buying the device if you want to make sure you will not run out of toner anytime soon. A standard toner cartridge can print 3,000 pages. Unfortunately, there is no available high-yield toner for this model. The standard cartridge can cost upward of $70, which makes each print cost 2.33 cents. This is a lot cheaper than most laser printers in its category.

The bundled software can be used for Microsoft Windows 2000 or better. It even supports various versions of the Linux operating system. Unfortunately, the utility CD does not include any support for Mac OS X 10.3 or later, but it can be downloaded from the website. You can even download the latest drivers that support the Mac OS X 10.5.

As our conclusion, the Samsung ML 1755 is great device for personal use. It is able to offer quality prints at a reasonable price. The large memory is also very helpful for heavy loads of printing. It is an excellent choice for basic text and graphic printing, but it will not sufficient for detailed prints.

For the printing range targeted by this device, the Samsung ML 1755 toner proves exceptional.  You’ll find yourself getting so much use out of this printer that you’ll want to have extra Samsung toner on hand.  Online merchants often offer toner at much more competitive prices.
