A Review Of The HP LaserJet 3055 Printer

by erin on October 20, 2010

The HP LaserJet 3055 Printer is an all in one printer that is designed for use by small businesses and in homes. The all in one machine offers prints, copies, faxing and scanning. This laser jet printer is able to perform the function of several other office machines without the expense of investing in them individually. The machine makes color scans, sends black and white faxes and makes black prints or copies, all printed with the high quality HP LaserJet 3055 toner.

This printer prints up to 19 ppm at both the normal and best quality print. Although the duty cycle of the machine is 7000 pages per month, the recommended print level is between 500 and 2000 pages per month. The input tray holds 250 sheets and the output tray will hold 100 sheets of paper.

Users will find that installation and setup of this printer is very easy. The driver is included in CD form but upon installation, users may be directed to update the driver at the HP website. The updated driver will contain all the most recent updates and fixes to protect your computer and help to ensure compatibility with your current operating system.

The Laser Jet 3055 includes only one paper tray and will not accept any other trays. Additional sheets may be fed through the priority slot. This slot will hold up to ten sheets of media and accepts envelopes. Any duplex printing requires that users reinsert the page to print the back page.

This printer is compatible with both PC and Mac systems. For the PC, a Pentium II or higher processor is required along with a 128 MB RAM and 250MB hard disk. Most newer versions of Windows will operate the printer. Machines must have a CD Rom, USB or network port. Users of the Mac will need OS X v 10.3 or better along with a G3, 4 or 5 processor.

The package includes the all in one machine along with all needed power cords. Purchasers will find a black print cartridge included in the package. The user’s guide is included in electronic form on the installation CD. Also included is software for text recognition to convert scanned text to a word processor. Phone cords for the fax machine are also included. Owners will need to provide their own printer cord for the machine.

The internal memory can store up to 110 pages of scanned materials for a fax. In addition, faxes require three seconds per page sent. The fax resolution is 300 dpi. Scanner resolution is somewhat larger at 600 dpi and scanning is available in both color and black and white. The scanner will scan sheets slightly larger than a letter sized sheet of paper.

Consumers should be aware that the HP LaserJet 3055 Printer prints only black prints. However, the prints are excellent for use with text documents. Many small businesses find that offering only black prints to employees is an excellent way to save printing costs. In addition, as with other laser printers, prints cost less than inkjet prints. The results of the HP toner cartridges are more smudge proof than prints made on a laser printer as well.
