The Lexmark s 2455 has a capacity / speed of 24 pages per minute. It is a monochrome workgroup printer. If you compare it with other laser printers on the market today its relatively cheap. The Lexmark printer using Lexmark s2455 toner can print at a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi which for many print jobs is more than what you will need.
The Lexmark s 2455 has been designed for the bustling home office or office where having a nicely paced printer is necessary. With its 24 pages per minute speed you can be sure that you won’t have prints lined up in the queue. The printer’s workgroup features makes it easy for you to include it into your existing workgroup. The Lexmark’s is not big and bulky making it difficult to move, and one of the good things about this printer is you don’t have to have a few guys help you move it around unlike other printers within this category.
A few test pages of the printer revealed that it was capable of producing crisp and sharp text. On our mixed text and graphics print the page looked a bit grey. Even though the test was great the office clip art didn’t print as well as we thought it would but never the less it still looked great. Even at the smallest font size the printer still managed to print crisp fonts.
At high resolutions the printer took a few seconds extra to print which is perfectly normal. The end result of a 1200 dpi print was excellent grayscale reproduction. However a few fonts came up looking a bit washed out. However still at the price this printer is positioned at I will not worry about that much.
A 1200 dpi print took 14 seconds to finish. We also printed out labels, envelopes, and letterheads and all of them looked great.
The printer comes accompanied with a 250 sheet paper tray and two 500 sheet trays. You can also add an optional 2,000 sheet tray if you like. 500 sheets can be held in the output tray a small sensor indicates when the tray’s capacity is full.
The LCD display is very useful for instructions and to view the status of the printer. It especially comes in handy when you are trying to troubleshoot the printer. However under a bring light such as those used in offices I wasn’t able to read the display very clearly. The collaged prints are output from the front of the printer.
The Black Lexmark toner has a capacity of up to around 17,600 medium resolution pages. If you decrease the resolution you might be able to get more pages out of the toner. The duty cycle of this printer is around 100,000 pages in 30 days. Unlike other laser toners this black toner is easy to install which makes replacing a printer’s toner a cinch. The toner also has great capacity which means that you don’t have to change your toner ever week or second week.
