The HP LaserJet 4050 Printer Package

The HP LaserJet 4050 printer package comes to a user with a number of pleasant surprises, it must be said. For one, it only lists for about $130, which is an impressive figure for a networked workgroup printer. As well, the C4127A toner cartridge delivers fine-quality print resolution at 1200 dpi (dots per inch). Added altogether, it’s hard to see much to quibble over when it comes to a basic printer delivers such quality.

The LaserJet 4050 is what’s called a monochrome laser printer. This means that it’s basically a black-and-white printer. That it’s also a black-and-white printer that can put out product at 17 pages per minute is doubly impressive. For the price, one would expect to see, at most, 12 pages per minute but this particular Hewlett-Packard meets and beats that standard with ease.

This particular Hewlett-Packard is also light in weight, at only 40 pounds. As well, its physical dimensions come in at only 15 inches in width, 24 inches in depth and 13 inches in height. This means that the printer is a petite dynamo, for all intents and purposes. Most any IT specialist will find himself very pleased in its light weight and small stature.

The 4050 is also versatile in terms of connectivity. It comes with both wired and wireless connection technologies, including an Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX interface. This will allow the printer to be joined to most any network with relative ease and speed, which are qualities valued by not only the workgroup, but also the information technology guru who has to get the printer hooked up.

Maximum print resolution when it comes to this printer comes in at a fine 1,200 x 1,200 dots per inch (dpi). This is a high level of print quality from a unit that’s considered to be budget-priced by most experts who assess such models. The quality of the product that will be put out by the printer, in other words, will be extremely clear, sharp and crisp.

Nobody would ever accuse the 4500 of being a real speed demon, with it making use of a 133 MHz processor, but it’s been found that most of the workgroups for which the 4050 has been intended really have little need of anything faster. At any rate, printed product will be handled fairly quickly and with a minimum amount of fuss, which is all that anybody can ask of a workgroup printer.

The 4050 comes with 16 MB of RAM, though that can be upgraded to a maximum of 200 MB if needed. That range of memory should be sufficient to accommodate the needs of even a very busy workgroup, it must be said. The LaserJet 4050 can handle, as well, a wide variety of media stock, including transparencies, business cards, envelopes and plain paper. It can also hold up to 600 sheets of paper, as well.

In all, this HP printer delivers a number of pleasant surprises, starting with that $130 price tag and continuing through to the quality of the HP 4050 replacement toner. It also is capable of delivering 17 pages per minute of printed product and at a 1,200 dpi maximum resolution with the HP C4127A toner making sure it’s a clear and sharp print. Combined, these attributes make the 4050 a good candidate when it comes time to replace a workgroup’s old printer with a new unit.  Ordering toners and cartridges online is quick and cost effective.
